Every child and adult deserves the power of literacy. Support Les Amis De La Flore and empower individuals to unlock their full potential and contribute to a more just society.
Make a Difference Today!Les Amis De La Flore believes that literacy is the most powerful tool for social mobility and justice. Our mission is to radically transform life outcomes by guaranteeing universal access to high-quality, evidence-based educational support, guided by our three strategic cornerstones: Evidence-Based Intervention, Holistic Lifespan Support, and Radical Access & Equity.
Les Amis De La Flore was founded on the singular principle that literacy is the most powerful tool for social mobility and justice. Without the ability to read, write, and critically analyze information, individuals are perpetually locked out of economic opportunity, healthcare access, and democratic participation. Our mission is therefore not simply to teach reading, but to radically transform life outcomes by guaranteeing universal access to high-quality, evidence-based educational support.
Our work is organized around three non-negotiable strategic cornerstones that guide every program, policy, and partnership we undertake. This holistic approach ensures our interventions are deep, sustainable, and scalable across diverse geographic and socio-economic landscapes.
We commit exclusively to methods scientifically proven to work. For foundational reading, this means mandatory adherence to the Science of Reading, utilizing systematic and explicit instruction in phonics, phonemic awareness, and fluency. We rigorously assess all programs using pre- and post-tests to measure grade-level gain, ensuring that donor and volunteer efforts translate directly into verifiable student success. Our curricula are constantly refined based on empirical data collected from our global sites.
Literacy needs do not end in childhood. We address the full spectrum of educational needs, from the earliest stages of language development (0-5 years) through adult workforce literacy and senior digital inclusion. This comprehensive approach recognizes that an illiterate parent often raises illiterate children, creating a cycle we are dedicated to breaking. Our programs integrate family learning, where adults gain skills to support their children, creating a mutually reinforcing environment of learning at home.
We prioritize outreach to the most underserved communities: rural areas lacking infrastructure, individuals in correctional facilities, refugees, and those with learning disabilities. We leverage mobile technology, low-bandwidth digital platforms, and community partnerships to eliminate barriers of geography and poverty. Equity means providing not just opportunity, but the targeted resources necessary for everyone to succeed, regardless of their starting point. Our ultimate vision is a literate, equitable world.
Founded in 2005 by a small group of educators, Les Amis De La Flore rapidly grew from a local tutoring effort into an international non-profit operating in 12 countries. We are governed by an independent Board of Directors and committed to exceptional operational efficiency. Our unique difference is our relentless accountability and transparency, publicly reporting our longitudinal data on student success and financial audits.
Founded in 2005 by a small group of educators and technologists, Les Amis De La Flore began as a volunteer-run local tutoring effort. It rapidly evolved into an international non-profit when our initial data demonstrated the vast scalability of our proprietary mentorship model. Today, we operate in 12 countries, impacting over half a million learners annually. Our growth is guided by a commitment to operational efficiency and transparency, ensuring that the majority of every donated dollar goes directly to program delivery.
Les Amis De La Flore operates under the governance of a dedicated, non-compensated Board of Directors, comprising experts in global development, corporate finance, and educational neuroscience. The Board’s primary role is fiduciary oversight, strategic direction, and ensuring compliance with all international and federal regulations. The Executive Leadership Team, led by the CEO, manages the day-to-day operations and reports quarterly on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) tied directly to literacy outcomes.
We believe trust is earned through transparency. We undergo an annual independent audit of our financials, which are publicly disclosed along with our IRS Form 990. We track and report on metrics far beyond simple participation rates, focusing instead on measurable gains in reading fluency and comprehension. Our unique longitudinal data system tracks former participants for up to five years post-program to assess long-term vocational and educational success, validating the enduring impact of our work. Our staff and volunteers are trained under a strict ethical code of conduct that prioritizes the safety and dignity of our beneficiaries above all else.
We offer targeted programs designed to meet the diverse educational needs of individuals at every stage of life. Click "More Details" below each card to learn more about our curriculum.
